Tatiana Kiwi-Knight: Conference & Events Organiser

Kia ora, I’m Tatiana Kiwi-Knight. I whakapapa to Ngāti Whakaue through my dad and Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Raukawa through my mum. I was born and raised in Rotorua and left for University never expecting to come back, which is not atypical for young people growing up here.

I studied in Wellington and gained a degree in International Business and a degree with Honours in Spanish. I was also lucky enough to do an exchange in Santiago, Chile. However, the more time in spent away the more I felt a pull back home to reconnect with my family and my Māori heritage.

I absolutely love living in Rotorua now. I met the love of my life here, married him, bought a house and had a child, so we are locked in!

During my time, I’ve worked as a Business and Data Analyst for a small consulting firm and a multinational corporation. A Management Consultant at a Māori owned and operated Accounting Firm where I helped write a Regional Māori Economic Development Strategy.

I’ve also produced a podcast and my husband and I opened an escape room in Rotorua where we learned alot about the complexities of starting and operating a small business.

Most recently I was the Conference Organiser of the World Indigenous Business Forum (WIBF) which was held in Rotorua in October 2018 which was attended by 550 delegates from all over the world.

Digital Basecamp became a saviour and haven for my professional life. I started working from home on the WIBF when my daughter was 7 weeks old so I was trying to manage my workload and the baby. I allocated certain times to work from DBC and it was just perfect. The space is beautiful. Having people (adults!) to talk to and bounce ideas off (or vent to) was exactly what I needed.

I highly recommend DBC for that community and collaboration. I initially didn’t think DBC was for me because I don’t work in the digital space but that wasn’t an issue at all. Now I am trying to continue my contracting roles so I can keep working here!
